Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes hits back at links of him joining Barcelona in January
According to an Instagram post by SPORT TV, via Goncalo Santos, as quoted by the Daily Star, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has hit back at claims of him sealing a move to Barcelona in January.
The 27-year-old joined the Red Devils two years ago in the winter transfer window of the 2019/20 season. The Portuguese international has since gone on to become one of the most important players at the club, evidenced by his 45 goals and 34 assists in 104 appearances.

He has struggled at times this season but has still managed to bag 5 goals and 9 assists. However, the playmaker was recently linked with a January move to Spain, with Barcelona lining up an audacious move for him. The Nou Camp outfit may have financial problems but still managed to sign Ferran Torres, courtesy of which they could sign another big name, as per El Nacional (h/t The Sun).
But Fernandes has now rubbished those links. Portuguese outlet SPORT TV recently put out an Instagram post stating that Man United have offered the midfield star to the Catalan club. The player made his stance clear on the topic by writing the following in the comments section.
“And I thought the new year only started a few days ago, yet we are already on April 1. Or is this once again just bad journalism?”
Deserved response
Poor journalism often leads to a lot of speculation around players. Additionally, given that things are not all rosy in the red half of Manchester, this post was adding fuel to the fire. But Fernandes took matters into his own hands and cleared up any speculation over a potential deal.
The Portuguese ace has come under scrutiny this season, with Gary Neville unimpressed with his body language. Fans and pundits have also questioned whether the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has led to a dip in form of our midfield maestro.
There is something clearly wrong but nothing that cannot be worked upon. If provided the freedom by new boss Ralf Rangnick, the playmaker could get back to his very best and help in delivering titles for us.
But the most important thing at the moment is that he is not going anywhere. He has a contract at Old Trafford until 2025, and till then, it would bode well for us if he focuses on delivering titles and getting us back to the top of English football.

Rebuilding a team after a manager has been sacked is no easy process. None of these players at Old Trafford has been purchased by Ralf Rangnick and the personnel has Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s name still written all over it.
But luckily for us, the ex-Molde and Cardiff City boss made some smart signings, including that of Bruno. And if Rangnick wants to rebuild this team into one that can seriously challenge for multiple trophies, retaining our main players is of the utmost importance. Fernandes clearly falls in that category.
