Fabrizio Romano claims that a loan deal between Manchester United ace Amad Diallo and Birmingham City is set to collapse

According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are yet to finalize an agreement with Birmingham City over a loan deal for Amad Diallo, and a move is now expected to collapse.

It has been a rather mixed year for the Ivorian international. Diallo joined the Old Trafford outfit in January 2021 and helped us seal a place in the final of the UEFA Europa League. He also went on to represent his country at the Olympics before coming back to Man United. The former Atalanta star was up for a loan move in the summer, but an injury ruined those chances.

He has worked hard to get back to full fitness and is now in line to secure a loan deal in the winter transfer window. Birmingham City looked to be his future destination, but the Red Devils have not been able to come to a full agreement with the Championship side.

However, that has not ruled out a loan move for the 19-year-old. He is still expected to leave, with four clubs keen on the winger’s signature. Feyenoord were close to sealing a move for him in the summer and are still interested. However, Diallo is prioritising a move to a British club.

Diallo needs to join an English club

Joining Feyenoord could prove fruitful for the Ivorian, but it would do little to convince Man United of his potential and talent. The Eredivisie, for all its merits, is a different league as compared to the Premier League. A player who succeeds in a foreign league doesn’t mean they are ready for the challenges that await them in English football.

Thus, the teenager would be wise to develop in these conditions if he hopes to have a future at Old Trafford. A move to Birmingham may have failed, but it is perhaps best that he did not join a club that is battling for relegation in the second tier of English football.

However, he could have joined up with Man United U-23 teammate Teden Mengi, who recently sealed a loan deal to St. Andrew’s. Regardless, if any Premier League club is interested in signing Diallo, it would bode well for us and the player in the long run.

Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard could depart once their contracts expire in the summer. Anthony Martial is also pushing to leave, while Cristiano Ronaldo is not getting any younger. Thus, a couple of attacking positions could be vacant next season, and the African star needs to prove his worth in the coming six months by impressing on his potential loan move.

There isn’t any certainty over which teams want the Ivory Coast starlet but if Romano is to be trusted, then Diallo is set to leave on a loan spell this month. That’s only fair to the kid, considering he has been devoid of minutes especially after the high-profile arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford this summer.
