Manchester United and Aston Villa team news ahead of FA Cup encounter
According to the Manchester United official website, the team news of Manchester United and Aston Villa have been released ahead of their match in the third round of the FA Cup. The clash is set to take place on Monday, where both teams will try to get over their disappointing losses at the weekend.
Victor Lindelof will be available after he had missed the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers through Covid-19. Harry Maguire is still a doubt for the game since he has not yet made it to team training, having suffered an injury. Paul Pogba is a long term absentee and will be out of contention.
Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay will be in the squad as their one-match suspension will only come into effect in the Premier League following the Villa clash. Eric Bailly and Hannibal Mejbri are with their national teams for the African Cup of Nations and are unavailable for the tie.
The Lions recently signed former Barcelona superstar Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona on a loan transfer, but he is unlikely to be available for the tie on Monday. Ollie Watkins has returned to the squad while Tyrone Mings has completed his suspension. Kortney Hause was involved in training sessions following some discomfort, whereas Ashley Young has some issue with his fractured toe. Finally, Leon Bailly is continuing his recovery, meaning he will be out for Monday’s clash.
Time to bounce back
Our loss to Wolves was frustrating and showed the extent of work to be done under Ralf Rangnick. The onus is on the German and his players to hit back and put the loss at the weekend behind them. The FA Cup represents one of our best opportunities to win a trophy and it is imperative that we attack it with gusto.
The return of Lindelof would be a boost as it would offer Rangnick the option to tweak the team as he prefers depending on the situation. The FA Cup still gives us a chance to attain a title this season, and we have to claw through the hardships to extinguish the drought that we have suffered in recent years.

The team has to massively improve upon the performance they dropped against Bruno Lage’s side on Monday. We need to see an improvement in our display to spread the belief that the club is on the right path to return to the previous glory days. Expecting the Manchester club to get better overnight would be baffling, but there need to improve incrementally.
Despite their loss to Brentford, Steven Gerrard’s team will pose a considerable threat, so we have to be wary of them. The English legend has transformed the Villians into an organized unit that are difficult to break down. Man United can not afford to underestimate their opponents and fall short once again.
