Fred hits out at rumours claiming squad unrest inside Manchester United

According to Metro, Fred has lashed out at the claims which stated that there is major squad unrest within the Manchester United camp. The midfielder took to his social media handle to dispute the news and has warned the supporters not to believe everything that they see blindly.

Daily Mail Online reported this week that a ridiculous total of 17 players are frustrated with the state of the club and 11 of them are looking at options to move elsewhere. The Brazilian was named as one of them as his contract is set to expire in 2023. Man United, however, do have an option to activate a one-year extension in his deal.

The 28-year-old is adamant that he is happy at Old Trafford and has never expressed any displeasure or desire to leave the club. He added that the entire squad are working towards attaining their ambitions while labelling the news to be fake.

Fred admonished rumours stating major squad unrest within the camp.

Over the past few days I have read several fake news [articles] involving my name and other MUFC athletes. I’m not in the habit of answering controversial stuff publicly, but this time I will have to. I just want to say that I am very happy here and I have never expressed any dissatisfaction and the possibility of leaving the club. Don’t get misled by fake news.

Well done media!

The Red Devils fans have to be wary of what they see online as there have been similar cases in recent times. They are bound to create havoc and uncertainty among fans, so we should be on our toes not to trust them without any reliable confirmation. The media will continue to do such things to generate clicks, so we have to heed the warning from the Brazil international.

It is good to see that the Man United midfielder took a stern stance on the matter and clarified the truth. It should at least to some extent help negative the bad vibes surrounding the club. We endured a difficult loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers, but it would be very reactionary to think that unrest has taken place considering how Ralf Rangnick has not enjoyed enough time as a manager.

The media will continue to do similar things like this and create a storm in a teacup. The best way the club can silence its detractors is to perform well on the field. There are signs that the team is on the right track, but they need to be more consistent if we remain keen on a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The FA Cup clash against Aston Villa on Monday would be a perfect opportunity for us to make our case. Villa have improved under Steven Gerrard and would pose a great challenge for us on the night. Just how well we can convert adversity into opportunity remains to be seen.
