Transfer News: Manchester United believe Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes will make life easy for Wolves star Ruben Neves amidst transfer interest
According to transfer news on 90min.com (h/t The Express), Manchester United are confident that Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes shall smoothen things for Ruben Neves at Old Trafford if he leaves Wolves to join them.
The 24-year-old ace has been brilliant under Bruno Lage this season. The Portuguese manager has got them playing an attractive style of football, and Neves is an integral part of it. However, the player is said to be eager to impress at a club bigger than the Midlands outfit.
Man United are monitoring him ahead of a potential move. It is thought that they will have to shell out a transfer fee above £30million, and Wolves are ready to let him go for the right price. In fact, the Red Devils are also confident about getting the player settled into the squad.
The hierarchy believes that Ronaldo and Fernandes will make life easy for the former Porto star. The trio shares the pitch when representing the Portuguese national team and could already have a relationship with the midfielder. The Old Trafford outfit was eyeing a deal for Neves last summer, but he is now back on the radar, and the club believe he will be a hit from the get-go.
The Portuguese connection?
The 13-time Premier League champions sign players representing various countries, but they have found a lot of success with Portuguese stars. Diogo Dalot, Fernandes, and Ronaldo are evidence of the current generation, while the latter along with Nani proved to be a success under Sir Alex Ferguson too.
Neves could be a similar prospect. In fact, the player shares an agent with Ronaldo. Thus, Jorge Mendes could be key in this deal as well by bringing one of his clients to join hands with perhaps his biggest client in the game in Ronaldo. Fernandes, too, has apparently played a part in signing players.
He jokingly hinted that he acted as an agent to talk to Ronaldo about a potential move in the summer. If he was remotely serious about that, could he do it again with Neves? Nothing can guarantee that but of course, it is a possibility, however slim it may be.

However, the player also needs to be convinced about a move to Old Trafford. Additionally, Man United need to satisfy the asking price. But once those are done, we could be ready to welcome yet another Portuguese sensation to the Theatre of Dreams.
He may well slot in the double pivot alongside either Fred or Scott McTominay. At 24, he is a player that can offer a number of years to whichever club he chooses to play for. Hopefully for us, it’s Man United.
