Transfer News: Manchester United want to complete a move for Wolves star Ruben Neves in January
According to transfer news on The Sun, Manchester United are prepared to make an offer to sign Ruben Neves from Wolves in January.
The 24-year-old star dazzled at Old Trafford recently in our 1-0 defeat to the Midlands club on Monday night. Man United have been keen on signing him since last summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thought to be a big fan of the player.
They are now ready to prepare an offer worth £35million for the Portuguese ace. However, the Molineux club is only interested in bids over £40million, especially with Arsenal also keen on the player. The midfielder has two years left on his deal but is unlikely to sign an extension. He has also voiced his opinion about playing in the Champions League previously.
It bodes well that Ralf Rangnick is keen on signing a midfielder this month, but there are concerns that he is eager to sign one from the Bundesliga– a division he knows well from his managerial days at several clubs. Bruno Lage, who shares an agent with Neves, is determined to keep the player at the club.
Neves to Man United in January?
It is clear as day that we need a midfield addition this month. The disastrous outing on Monday was perfectly characterized by our lacklustre performance in the centre of the pitch. But our issues go beyond that.
Firstly, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba could leave in the next 18 months depending upon their contractual situations. Donny van de Beek is also assessing his options to secure a loan deal in January, although Rangnick has asked him to stay. Thus, reinforcements are certainly due.
Secondly, a mid-season addition is crucial to our ambitions of securing a Top 4 spot in the Premier League and faring well in the UCL. Neves could help our approach in both, and since we are the UCL-playing team, that could give us an advantage over Arsenal in the race to land the signature of the Portuguese international.

There is little known of his ambitions of leaving in January, but he has been largely vague about his future. Rangnick needs to understand that a Premier League-seasoned midfielder could be a safer bet as a winter addition as he could quickly adjust to life at the club. Regardless, the decision lies with the German boss and John Murtough. But it is good to know that at least one new name could be added to the midfield-roster this month.
And that too a quality midfielder. At 24, he has a lot of years ahead of him and can continue playing at the top level for a long time. Hopefully, his best years come at Old Trafford.
