Edinson Cavani could leave Manchester United soon after waving goodbye to fans following Burnley victory
According to the Express, Edinson Cavani was pictured waving goodbye to Manchester United fans after the victory against Burnley amidst transfer interest from several clubs.
The 34-year-old is set to be out of contract in the summer and has attracted interest from the likes of Barcelona. South American clubs like Boca Juniors and Corinthians are also trying to lure him to his home continent. Thus, it is a very real possibility that he could leave next month.
However, there has been little indication on his part about a potential exit. But to the disappointment of several Man United fans, the striker appeared to be waving goodbye to the supporters after the recent 3-1 victory against Burnley.
The centre-forward started the game on Thursday after scoring the equalizer against Newcastle United on Monday. He remained a threat against the Clarets as the fans sang his name when he went over to them before heading down the tunnel.
Reading into it?
The Uruguayan international did indeed spend a little more time than usual by waving tribute to the supporters, but that does not necessarily mean anything. He has always been loved by the Old Trafford faithful and rarely misses a chance to clap them off at the end of the game.
Game-time has indeed been hard to come by for him this season, but his injuries and inconsistencies have not done a favour to anybody. However, Man United are likely to compete on three fronts from February and Cavani shall be crucial thereon.
He can lead the line while also complementing Cristiano Ronaldo. His work on and off the ball remains exemplary, making it a no-brainer for the club to keep him till the end of the season. Alternatively, we could always cash on him in January, but the consequences of doing so need to be evaluated before making that potential decision.

We do have sufficient talent in the frontline, but there are few leaders. The former PSG ace is one of them, and Man United fans would be hoping they see him at Old Trafford beyond January as he looks to play a pivotal role in our ambitions of finishing in the Top 4 this season.
The timing of the game against Burnley was just unfortunate in the sense that Cavani’s post-match actions could be misinterpreted with the January transfer window opening shortly. Maybe we will have a clearer picture of the situation in a few days time.
