Transfer News: Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo has offered Barcelona the chance to sign him
According to transfer news on Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Sun), Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo has offered Barcelona the chance to sign him in the coming transfer windows.
The Real Madrid legend left Los Blancos in 2018 and joined Juventus before re-signing for Manchester United this summer. Although he has performed for the Red Devils, he is unconvinced by the methods of Ralf Rangnick and is now plotting an early exit. The 36-year-old superstar is apparently looking to join ex-rivals Barcelona.
The Portuguese international shares a good relationship with Gerard Pique. He has asked the central defender to talk to Xavi about a potential move, with Jorge Mendes already negotiating terms for a deal with the Catalan club.
The super-agent has a good understanding with club president Joan Laporta, and they could now discuss the viability of a move for arguably Mendes’ biggest client. Ronaldo is aware that the Nou Camp outfit needs a new goalscorer. He is also thought to have contacted Xavi a few days ago, following an introduction by Pique.
The Spanish manager has also admitted that the veteran can add ‘goals and experience’ but has asked his defender to go back to the Man United star and quiz him about where he would like to play in the team.
Could it actually happen?
On the face of it, it looks something out of a fairy tale for the Spanish club. They are in a financial crisis and are not faring well in the league or in Europe, and the next thing you know, a Real Madrid legend apparently offers them the chance to sign him out of the blue. This news, thus, should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Ronaldo has always succeeded wherever he goes and has been up for a challenge. Things might be a tad rough at Old Trafford currently but it is certainly not the worst. Moreover, the Red Devils are still in the Champions League, something Barcelona cannot claim to be in anymore.
One would also question if the La Liga club has the finances to sign the Portuguese superstar. They had to secure a bank loan to sign Ferran Torres from Man City, courtesy of which there would be question marks if they are to sign one of the biggest names in world football.

Regardless, Ronaldo has a contract until 2023 at Old Trafford, and he is our biggest star. Any move would take some serious complications, not to mention, backlash from fans. It cannot be ruled out since stranger things have taken place. But Man United are not going to have sleepless nights over the probability of this deal getting off the ground.
He joined us this summer and it would certainly be odd seeing him leave so soon. In Rangnick, we have a more accomplished manager than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the man who brought Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. Thus, the timing of this news certainly seems peculiar and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
