According to ESPN, Ralf Rangnick will be allowed to sign players in January to bolster the Manchester United squad.

Ralf Rangnick joined Manchester United in the first week of this month. Since then, the manager has been involved in making Manchester United a title contender again. He has been successful in his work until now, as Red Devils haven’t lost a match in his reign. However, the performance drop of some players and uncertainty over the future of specific individuals suggests that he requires reinforcements in the transfer window to bolster his options.

Football Insider first revealed that Rangnick would not be allowed to sign players in January. The report further added that the United hierarchy wants the manager to target loan moves for the coming transfer window.

But, now it is believed that even though Manchester United primarily intends not to be busy during the January transfer window, the German manager will be allowed to players if the right opportunity arrives.

There is a massive uncertainty over the future of Anthony Martial, who has communicated his intentions to leave the club to the manager. Veteran forward Edinson Cavani has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. At the same time, Paul Pogba still has doubts over his United future.

If any players decide to leave the club in January, Rangnick would find himself in hot waters. The squad depth would be hampered in such a situation. The sudden coronavirus surge has put uncertainty over the availability of players. Therefore, the quantity of legs at squad is becoming more important than the quality.
