Charlie Savage “buzzing” after completing loan switch to Forest Green Rovers from Manchester United
Manchester United star Charlie Savage is buzzing after completing his loan switch to Forest Green Rovers in the ongoing transfer window.
The 19-year-old has joined the League One outfit temporarily until the end of the season. At the Old Trafford side, the young midfielder found game time hard to come by.
Speaking to FGR media (h/t Manchester Evening News), Savage is excited to get on the pitch with Forest Green. The Waled U21 international is raring to get started with the Vegans.
“I’m buzzing to be here. As soon as I found out Forest Green were interested, I just wanted to get down and get started.
“I loved the sound of the club and I actually came down here last season for work experience under Rob Edwards. I know the people and the place really well.”
At the Gloucestershire-based club, the 19-year-old will be working under Everton icon Duncan Ferguson. However, at the moment, the League One outfit are struggling.
Forest Green are currently bottom of the table in the third tier of English football. They only got promoted in the previous campaign and things are not looking rosy for the Vegans.
Savage impressed many with his performances for United during the pre-season. Erik ten Hag gave the youngster chances during the friendly fixtures and he caught a lot of people’s eyes alongside fellow academy star Zidane Iqbal.
However, competition for places at the Old Trafford side is immense. Christian Eriksen and Casemiro have been the gaffer’s preferred duo in the middle of the park. The Danish and Brazilian nationals have made a big impact in a short amount of time in Manchester.
Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have provided backup in the middle of the park. However, the Holland international is out for the rest of the campaign due to an injury.

Therefore, while we are short in the middle of the park, Savage’s move to Forest Green is a wise one. The Welsh national will be hoping to gain valuable experience and keep the Vegans in League One this season.
