West Ham target Tottenham Hotspur outcast Dele Alli as alternative to Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard
According to Eurosport (h/t Manchester Evening News), West Ham United have targeted Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli as an alternative to Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard. The latter has struggled to earn minutes this season and could be on the way out in the coming transfer windows.
Lingard enjoyed a great spell on loan at West Ham in the second half of last season, where his performances helped them to the Europa League. As a result, they are interested in getting him back but have eyed Alli as an alternate option if they fail to get their number one option.
The 29-year-old will see his contract with the Red Devils expire at the end of the 2021-22 season, meaning he would be available as a free agent next summer. No information has been made available on how this would influence the interest from the Hammers in the January transfer window.
Finding common ground!
The Englishman enjoyed a splendid pre-season with the Manchester club and had a solid start to the competitive campaign. He was even decisive in the earlier games but, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer never gave him enough chances to build on the promise. That has seen him fall down the pecking order after struggling to find regular minutes.
David Moyes’ side wants to take advantage of the situation and prise him away to replicate last season’s success. Ralf Rangnick is happy to let him leave, but the club is demanding a transfer fee of £20million, which could put an end to any interest from interested teams.
It does not make sense how we could demand that amount from others considering that the England international will be available on a free transfer at the end of the current campaign. If Rangnick’s team want to move him on, we should lower the asking price and be more realistic.

We should be more sensible and save on the wages while earning a decent sum by letting the Man United attacker leave elsewhere. That is much better than demanding an unrealistic amount and losing the player as a free agent at the end of the season. That would be a bigger hit to our finances, and we hope that the situation is managed well as the winter transfer window draws near.
