Interim coach Ralf Rangnick to deliver contract verdict on Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba ahead of next summer
According to Gazetta dello Sport via Sports Mole (h/t Manchester Evening News), Interim coach Ralf Rangnick is set to deliver a verdict on the contract of Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba as his deal nears its end. Uncertainty has gathered around the future of the player due to the situation with his current deal.
The German manager believes that Pogba does not deserve a new offer that has improved terms compared to his current deal. The latter will see his contract with Man United expire at the end of the current season. That means he could reach a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in the January transfer window.
The Frenchman has attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, while Barcelona have pulled out from the race to sign him. This new development would add to the uncertainty giving rise to many speculations due to the winter transfer window being on the horizon.
An underperforming asset!
We still believe that the 28-year-old could still end up being successful at Old Trafford by repeating what he does at his national team. There is always a thought in the back of everyone’s mind that a good coach could help him replicate the same at the Manchester club.
Rangnick could be that man but, he thinks that the midfielder does not warrant a better deal. As a result, the hierarchy should back the manager in his decision and flip the tables on the France star. After all, he has shown little to suggest he is deserving of a bumper new deal.
We back the coach in his decision, and the players must believe playing for the club is something valuable in itself. It would be one of the steps involved in regaining our status as a top club as we have regressed over the past decade or so. Having such a mindset could help in giving maximum efforts on the pitch.
The Red Devils star needs to take a look at himself in the mirror and ask if he deserves a new contract. There is no doubt about the quality that he possesses, but what matters are the performances on the pitch. He has not been consistent with the displays, which is a contrast to his time for France national team.

We would want the France midfielder to stay and help the club improve under the German manager. He should also have a new contract where his salary package meets his performances on the pitch. The management can even include performance base clauses, which would give an incentive for him to push more on the field. It remains to be seen what lies in store for him in the future as the transfer window will open next month.
