Manchester United to evaluate their Covid-19 struck squad before considering appealing to cancel the Brighton game
According to The Sun, Manchester United could appeal to the Premier League to cancel their game against Brighton Saturday once they evaluate their Covid-19 struck squad.
The Red Devils were in fine form under Ralf Rangnick, and the club was finally playing with an identity. However, all of that came to a halt when four players and some staff members that played against Norwich on the weekend contracted the coronavirus disease.
The club closed the Carrington training ground and appealed to call off the game against Brentford on Tuesday night. The Premier League obliged and postponed the game. However, several stars did return to training on Wednesday ahead of hosting Brighton on the weekend.
The 13-time Premier League champions could appeal to cancel that match too depending on the new test results. Ralf Rangnick might evaluate the entire squad before taking a decision, as it would be unwise to put anybody in close quarters with someone that has tested positive.
Another game to be cancelled?
The recent Covid-19 outbreak has hit everybody hard, and a couple of other clubs have also had to appeal to the league to cancel their fixtures. Brighton themselves have experienced recent trouble with the disease, and they too could be the reason to cancel the game on Saturday.
Victor Lindelof has already undergone a traumatic 48 hours after he was clutching his chest in the game against Norwich. His wife later revealed that it was scary to see him with a heart monitor for two days. However, the club did confirm that the defender’s issue had nothing to do with Covid.
The identity of the players that tested positive is unknown, courtesy of which very little can be ascertained for now. A negative test from a majority of the players could see us host the Seagulls as we look to fight for a place in the Top 4.

But the Red Devils will need to conclude the necessary tests before considering calling off the game. Rangnick shall make a decision in the best interest of everybody connected to the club because there are lives at stake at the end of the day.
And the last thing we need is to overlook the greater health of the players and their families in a bid to resume playing football. It’s better to meticulously deal with the situation at hand rather than rush through it.
