Manchester United haven’t made any approaches to sign Amadou Haidara

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (h/t Thisisfutbol), Manchester United haven’t contacted RB Leipzig or the agent of Amadou Haidara to discuss a possible move for the midfielder.

Amadou Haidara has provided some top-notch performances in the Bundesliga. The Mali international has bagged three goals this season while making 17 appearances. However, it is his consistency and versatility that makes him a top performer. The 23-year-old has played in various positions this season, including central and defensive areas of the midfield and down the right-hand side of the pitch.

Even though Haidara has a contract until 2025 that keeps him at Leipzig, Manchester United have shown interest in signing the midfielder. However, it seems the Red Devils haven’t made any approach to his parent club or the player’s agent to discuss a possible move.

Fabrizio Romano has discussed the interest on a YouTube show where he suggested that the new United manager Ralf Rangnick is convinced about the qualities of the Mali international.

“Haidara, of course, the link is with Ralf Rangnick. He has a great appreciation for this boy; he’s convinced that he is one player that would be perfect for the Premier League.”

However, the Italian transfer expert also suggested that at this moment, the situation is far from United’s reach as they haven’t made any viable move to sign the youngster.

“But from what I’m told, at the moment, there are no contacts between Man United and Leipzig or with his agent. So at the moment, it’s still quiet for Haidara.”

The Red Devils have been facing difficulty for quite some time with the contract of Paul Pogba. The Frenchmen hasn’t shown any interest in penning down a new deal. Nevertheless, he has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

In such a case, the pressure comes in on the available players. Scott McTominay and Fred have been featuring regularly under the new German manager. However, they are not the complete package and leave a lot to be demanded with their performances more often than not.

On the other hand, United need some players to keep the ball in the middle of the park and make sleek passes. Haidara has shown in his performances for Leipzig that he can do those things. Ralf Rangnick could also use him in deep regions to give Fred some time off. At the same time, the Mali international would bolster the depth in the Red Devils’ midfield for years to come and maybe, just maybe, solve our issues in the defensive region of midfield.
