Transfer News: Real Madrid monitor situation of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of January transfer window
According to transfer news on Football Insider, Real Madrid could launch a move to sign Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo in January.
The star-striker left Turin to join the Red Devils this summer. His numbers have been incredible for the Old Trafford outfit, scoring 12 goals and providing 2 assists in 18 games. He was pivotal under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but that could change under Ralf Rangnick.
The centre-forward featured in the first game under the German in the 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace. However, there is a sense amongst those close to Man United that the new manager’s high pressing style will not suit the Portuguese international.
Real Madrid are monitoring the situation in the meantime. Ronaldo had a stellar time at the Spanish capital between 2009-2018. He remains the club’s highest goal-scorer, and Los Blancos could launch a move for him in January.
Not in a million years
Man United could have afforded to lose the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner in 2009, but they certainly cannot this time around. The centre-forward has led the line brilliantly this season and is showing no signs of slowing down.
As soon as word broke out of Man United hiring Rangnick, Ronaldo has been working hard on his game. He has been pressing the defenders and did so against Palace too. The German boss was also happy by the commitment the striker showed.
Moreover, he has a contract until 2023, with the option to extend it for a further 12 months. He is ageing like a fine wine and remains our main man, evidenced by his performances in the Champions League this season.
