Team News: Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani is in contention to feature for Manchester United vs Norwich City
As confirmed by the club’s official website, Manchester United could call upon the services of Edinson Cavani for their Premier League clash against relegation-threatened Norwich City.
The Red Devils take on the Canaries in what will be Ralf Rangnick’s first away game in charge of the club. The German will be keen to keep his undefeated run going and secure yet another three points on the board.
The 63-year-old has received a massive injury boost as Cavani could make his return against Dean Smith’s side. The Uruguayan is one of the greatest strikers of his generation and proved his worth to the Red Devils last season.
The current campaign however has not gone to plan. Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival and a spate of injuries have seen the South American ace largely consigned to the shadows.
The 34-year-old is determined to overcome tendon problems to feature against Norwich. He has so far made just eight appearances all season, scoring one goal. It is a far cry from his performances last season. With games set to come thick and fast this festive season, there is no better time than now for Cavani to regain his magic touch.
It would appear that Man United will make a late call regarding Cavani’s participation. Rangnick confirmed as much while talking to MUTV’s Stewart Gardner (h/t Man United)
“He was training with the team yesterday and a couple of days before that so we have to wait and see how he feels today.”
With Anthony Martial out injured, Man United will be grateful to have Cavani back. While he is no more the prolific player he once was, the Uruguayan still packs a punch and can be a game-winner on his day. Whether he will make a dream return at Carrow Road remains to be seen.

Cavani is currently in the final few months of his Old Trafford contract. There is still much to play for this season and the 34-year-old has a potentially big role to play. Whether he will hit his stride in the business end of the campaign remains to be seen.
