Interim manager Ralf Rangnick not pleased with Manchester United player for disobeying him vs Young Boys

According to BT Sport (h/t The Daily Star), Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick has been left unimpressed by Red Devils stars who disobeyed his instructions in the UEFA Champions League tie against Young Boys.

With qualification for the last 16 already secure, the German manager chose a much-changed side that saw a number of fringe players be handed an opportunity. While some players did impress, few others left much to be desired.

Mason Greenwood put Man United one up with an excellent finish only for Young Boys to equalise through Fabian Rieder. Donny van de Beek has to take the blame for it after he gave the ball sloppily on the edge of the penalty area.

Rangnick in particular appeared incensed at his players not taking care while playing out from the back. Van de Beek for one could certainly have done better to keep hold of the ball in the leadup to Young Boys’ equalizer.

“What was really a little bit annoying was the way that we also gave the goal away, because we played too many balls into the first line of their pressing area.”

Man United’s naivete played right into the hands of Young Boys. While the players will certainly improve in the future, their rebuild under Ralf Rangnick is still only in its infancy. Hopefully, it will get easier with time.

“It was more or less a pressing invitation that we sent.”

Rangnick is not entirely satisfied with the team’s performance.

Nicknamed ‘the professor’, the 63-year-old Man United boss is a perfectionist who looks for his side to keep evolving. It is good to see that he is not getting carried away despite promising performances. There is still a long way to go before we get where we want to be.
