Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick explains Aaron wan-Bissaka injury after being stretchered off against BSC Young Boys
Speaking to BT Sport at full-time, as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Ralf Rangnick explained that he shall need to assess the injury to Manchester United ace Aaron wan-Bissaka suffered against BSC Young Boys.
The German boss changed the entire starting XI on Wednesday night as he played the fringe stars and youngsters. One man that was dropped by Michael Carrick and Rangnick was Wan-Bissaka.
The Englishman lost his spot to Diogo Dalot, who had started the last two games before the UCL tie. The Portuguese has impressed with his attacking output and did a good job of keeping his teammate out of the side.
However, Wan Bissaka returned to the line-up against the Swiss champions. Unfortunately, he suffered two knocks on the night and had to be stretchered off at full-time after crashing into the advertising boards in the final seconds of the game. The gaffer explained after full time that he shall need to assess the injury before we face Norwich on Saturday.
“Aaron (Wan-Bissaka) got two knocks again. One on the wrist another one on the knee, so we have to see how this will develop by Saturday. It was an experiment, but I did it on purpose as I wanted to save the players’ energy for Norwich.”
Unfortunate incident
The entire performance against the minnows was encouraging but the injury to the Englishman would have hurt the German boss. Any new boss would love to have a fit squad to choose from and the necessary depth in every area.
Wan-Bissaka was the first-choice under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the last two years. But it did not take Carrick and Rangnick long to understand who fits better in this system. Dalot was the standout player against Crystal Palace and played his part in the winner scored by Fred.
However, this is not a bad thing for his English teammate. The former Palace defender could take motivation from this and perform better going forward. His defensive performances are already better than most in the side and he is a tough man to beat in 1v1 duels.

Regardless, he needs to keep on improving to warrant a place in the side. Dalot is not going to let up any time soon as it is the first time in two seasons that he has been considered as the main man in the full-back role. It will take some quality from Wan-Bissaka to displace the Portuguese international once he recovers from his injury.
Luke Shaw flourished when United brought in Alex Telles to compete for the left-back spot. This is Wan-Bissaka’s chance to take his game to the next level and prove his worth to the side.
