Manchester United on alert as Carney Chukwuemeka seeks Aston Villa exit
According to The Guardian (h/t Mirror), Manchester United and a couple of other Premier League rivals are interested in Aston Villa youngster Carney Chukwuemeka. The teenager will supposedly not sign a new deal with the Villains which has alerted potential suitors to the situation.
The young midfielder came through the ranks at Villa Park, eventually making his first-team debut earlier this year. He has made five senior team appearances for Villa across all competitions to date. It is believed that Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in securing the services of the youngster. Apart from them, European clubs like Borrusia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are also thought to be pursuing the talented teenager.
The 18-year-old is highly thought of at Villa and their Chief Executive Christian Purslow even tagged him as the best in his age group in the country when the midfielder was just 16. This goes to show that Chukwuemeka is highly regarded and could even develop into a world-beater if given the right guidance.
While Bruno Fernandes seems virtually undroppable and Donny van de Beek potentially getting a second chance, there doesn’t seem to be an immediate need to fill any void in that area of the Man United squad. That being said, the Aston Villa starlet could help future proof the midfield at Old Trafford. He could also learn a lot from the veteran players at Man United and join a young core of upcoming players rising through the ranks.
The Red Devils have struggled to maintain their intensity in the middle of the pitch this season. Despite a double pivot of Fred and Scott McTominay being deployed to form the first line of defence, the Old Trafford outfit have largely struggled to maintain a tight ship at the back. The Red Devils do possess a jaw-dropping lineup on paper but haven’t managed to translate that onto the pitch this season.
Man United showed intent in the last transfer window by securing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane. With no dearth of star players, it feels like the club only needs a manager who can get the best out of them on a consistent basis. Ralf Rangnick looks set to be appointed as the interim manager till the end of the season and will hopefully be the man to make that happen.
If Chukwuemeka makes his way to Old Trafford, he would be another great addition alongside the likes of Facundo Pellistri, Amad Diallo and Tahith Chong among others. While it may be tough to walk into the first-team setup at the moment, the 18-year-old could develop at a blistering pace. He would most likely be sent on loan to help him gain the necessary exposure and hone his technical abilities to develop into a more refined footballer.

It may seem like a coup if the Manchester-based club could pull this off at the moment with a market value of £2.25m. That being said, the Red Devils must do all they can to prevent a real talent like the Chukwuemeka slip through our fingers. The Villans would also not want to let go of their rising star without getting a substantial fee for the same.
