Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be preparing to leave SS Lazio
According to Corriere della Sera (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United transfer target and SS Lazio player, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be set to leave the Italian club very soon.
The 26-year-old has played 264 matches for the Serie A club across all competitions till now. During that time he has scored 50 goals and provided 43 assists for the Biancocelesti. He has been an instrumental part of the midfield and could be a significant addition to the Red Devils should Paul Pogba choose to leave Old Trafford.
It is believed that the Manchester-based club will have to fight out competition from other potential suitors such as Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid for the Serbian footballer. Pogba’s current contract with Manchester United will expire next summer. Along with that, Jesse Lingard has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent times due to the lack of quality game times. Should both the top-class midfielders depart, it could leave a certain void within the Red Devils squad.
Milinkovic-Savic has been touted as a possible replacement to the French international and his experience at the top level could be a big boost should the Red Devils be able to land him. His addition could be a stellar reinforcement and help the club compete across various competitions at a more consistent level.
While the Lazio player has stayed put so far the surging interest and the possibility of a lucrative deal could mean that the Serbian could be in for a change of scenery. There has been a lot of chaos at Old Trafford recently and the transition period though necessary may bring with it some unique obstacles.
The Manchester-based club boasts a plethora of world-class players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes along with young exciting attackers like Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, and Marcus Rashford. While the talent and potential are there, the club needs a suitable personality at the helm that can help them gell well and perform consistently.
On Milinkovic-Savic, they can potentially land a player who is in the prime of his career and is proven at the top level. HHis attributes will make him a key player for the club in the years to come.
