Some fans react on Twitter as Manchester United beat Villarreal 2-0 to qualify to the knockout stages of the UCL
According to the club’s official Twitter account, Manchester United beat Villarreal 2-0 to seal qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Michael Carrick did not take too long to get used to the hot-seat at Old Trafford. The club appointed Michael Carrick as the interim boss after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday.
The mood around the camp was not one of optimism, but this victory could surely change that. Donny van de Beek was handed a start after nearly two months and the Dutchman impressed in the opening half as he even worked hard off the ball.
Man United into the Round of 16 of UCL?
Anthony Martial was handed a start but looked lacklustre and was substituted in the second half. Carrick benched Fernandes for the first time this season, and the trick worked wonders. The Portuguese playmaker looked far fresher off the bench, as did Marcus Rashford.
They injected urgency into the team and increased the pressing. It eventually paid off 12 minutes from time. A blunder by Etienne Capoue resulted in the ball landing in the feet of Cristiano Ronaldo, with only the goalkeeper in front of him.
The 36-year-old chipped the shot-stopper and put United in the driving seat. The second goal came in the final minutes of the game as Ronaldo drove forward a counter-attack. The ball reached Jadon Sancho on the right wing, and the Englishman bagged his first goal of the season with a thunderous strike off the post.
It had been a tough weekend after the departure of Solskjaer. But the Red Devils have started the week by sealing qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Let us now see how some fans reacted on Twitter to our side beating the Spanish outfit 2-0 away from home.

You can’t criticize him on his first match … he had to initiate a different tactics which played a vital role in aiming at the 3 points
Keeping Sancho in the game is what Olé didn’t really do
Nevertheless there’s still much work to be done
Great squad and great performance during the second half. Congrats!
