Mauricio Pochettino is ready to take over at Manchester United as Zinedine Zidane eyes PSG job
According to Marca (h/t The Metro), Mauricio Pochettino could be set to join Manchester United soon with PSG players confident that Zinedine Zidane will take over at the French club.
The Red Devils parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the weekend, following the defeat to Watford. Michael Carrick has been appointed as the interim boss, but that role might not last long.
Mauricio Pochettino is ‘desperate’ for the job at Old Trafford and has apparently told his close friends that he wants to make the move, according to The Mirror (h/t The Express).
The Argentinian spent five glorious at Tottenham Hotspur as he ensured Top 4 qualification in nearly every season. He also led them to the Champions League final in 2019.
He was appointed by PSG at the start of 2021 and has gotten off to a great start this season. However, failure to have control over the broader footballing issues is making him unsatisfied at the job. Moreover, his family still stay in England as he works out of a hotel.

PSG players are apparently privately discussing the departure of their gaffer. There is a feeling in their dressing room that Zinedine Zidane’s arrival is imminent. The French boss has already rejected United and is only open to taking up the France job or managing PSG.
However, while Pochettino is ready to quit the job at the Ligue 1 club right now, Man United are yet to contact him, according to Daily Mail (h/t The Sun). Regardless, a move could be on the cards and given his style of football and experience in the league, the Old Trafford outfit would be bagging a gem.
