Transfer News: Manchester United star Jesse Lingard targeted by Barcelona and AC Milan
According to transfer news on ESPN (h/t Manchester Evening News), Barcelona and AC Milan are interesting in signing Manchester United star Jesse Lingard next summer.
The 28-year-old has been on the bench more times than on the pitch this campaign. He has been effective as an impact substitute, evidenced by his contributions against West Ham United, Villarreal, and Atalanta.
However, he is yet to start a league game this season. But it does not look like Lingard wants to wait forever to become a starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian failed to provide the Englishman with the same chances last season.
But the player instead signed for West Ham on a loan deal and was brilliant for them. He scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 games and helped them secure Europa League qualification.
United retained his services in the summer, but he shall be out of contract next summer. It is thought that the winger has already rejected an extension after demanding game-time assurances. If a deal cannot be agreed upon by the end of this year, Lingard will be free to talk to foreign clubs in January.
Moreover, he has his fair share of suitors as well. 7-time European champions AC Milan are eyeing a deal as they look to get back on top of Italian football.

Barcelona have also joined the race now. The Blaugrana club let go of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann this summer while Luis Suarez also departed last year. Considering all that, they would be looking to add some fire to their frontline, and the English international is not a bad option for them in all honesty.
Nevertheless, Lingard might make the final decision on where he plays his football in 2022.
