Manchester United chief Ed Woodward priorities success on the pitch amidst poor run of form
According to a statement attached to the financial results (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has claimed that they are prioritizing success on the pitch.
There are a lot of problems at Old Trafford currently. The gaffer is out of his depth and is finding trouble discovering a winning formula. Last season was a success as United finished 2nd and reached the Europa League final.
We were supposed to kick on this season, especially after bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not built on the progress and has instead gone in the other direction.
It is also thought that the board have ‘privately accepted’ that a change is required at the hot-seat. Vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, also recently had his say on the matter by releasing a statement attached to the financial results for the first quarter where they posted a %16 increase in revenue. The statement read (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“While these financial results today demonstrate our resilience through the pandemic, our top priority is success on the pitch. The manager, players and everyone at the club are determined to achieve that objective.”
The club are understood to be doing just fine financially, as they brought their net debt down slightly. This was possible due to the sale of Daniel James and the sell-on fee from the transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea. Their wages have, however, increased due to the additions of the aforementioned three superstars.

Regardless, the problem at hand is the lack of tactical acumen of the manager. There are only so many players that can be bought and sold until one realises the root of the problem.
United have a squad ready to win trophies, and they need to hire a manager that they will win them some soon.
