Transfer News: AC Milan join West Ham United to sign Manchester United star Jesse Lingard in January
According to transfer news on ESPN (h/t Tribal Football), AC Milan have joined West Ham United in the race to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United in January.
The Rossoneri are on the up and looking to rule Italian football again. They qualified for European football for the first time after a decade last season. It was a stellar achievement given the number of rising clubs in Serie A.
However, they as well as any other European giant understand the importance of constant additions to the squad. The Italian club have so far done a great job this season, as they are 2nd in the league, tied on points with Napoli.
If they are keen on winning the Scudetto this campaign, mid-season signings could do the trick. They are now eager to land the signature of Man United star Jesse Lingard.
The 28-year-old is in the final year of his contract and could leave as a free agent next summer. However, the Red Devils are willing to let him leave for £10million in January. He has suffered for minutes this season, and an exit would do a world of good for him.
However, Milan are not the only club interested in signing him. West Ham are expected to make an attempt to lure him away too. Lingard had an excellent second half of the season at the London Stadium last season, and the Hammers might want a permanent taste of that.

The San Siro outfit are confident about securing his services, but the final decision might lie with the Englishman. For United, this is a great situation, as they can churn out a reasonable transfer fee if the two clubs enter into a bidding war for the playmaker.
