Transfer News: Manchester United look to replace Paul Pogba with AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni
According to transfer news on Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni has been identified as the ideal replacement to Paul Pogba by Manchester United.
The young midfield star has gone from strength to strength since leaving Bordeaux. Under Niko Kovac at Monaco, Tchouameni has developed into a world-beater in the centre of the pitch and has developed various facets of his game.
His incredible performances led to the French outfit finishing 3rd in the league last season as he was named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year.
The Frenchman has maintained his position in the starting line-up this season and earned plaudits for his performances with the national team during their recent UEFA Nations League triumph.
The midfielder might now, however, be heading for the exit door as United plot a move to bring the youngster to the theatre of dreams. The Red Devils are aware that Paul Pogba is in the final year of his contract and could leave on a free transfer at the end of this season.
In fact, Mino Raiola and Pogba have apparently declined an extension worth £50million from the Manchester-based club. There has been interest from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus, with a move seeming likely for the 28-year-old next summer.

Hence, the 13-time Premier League champions are planning on replacing their French superstar with his national compatriot. At 21, Tchouameni can become a mainstay in the United midfield and to the quality in the ranks of the Red Devils.
While most United fans would have hoped to see the French duo play together, it looks like the Old Trafford outfit are building for the future, and there are few better young stars than the Monaco ace currently.
