Sweden manager gives his verdict on Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof’s ‘minor injury’
According to Fotboll Skanalen (h/t Sport Witness), Janne Andersson, the national team manager of Sweden, expects Victor Lindelöf ‘to be fit soon’ after he suffered a knock in the Manchester United training.
Manchester United squad left for Italy to compete against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League fixture without their central defender Victor Lindelof. Later Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team hinted that he picked up a knock in the training sessions and couldn’t be much of a help in Italy. So he was left in Manchester for treatment purposes.
The news wasn’t a good sign for Solskjaer’s team, but his concerns from his homeland were far greater. Sweden are set to play against Georgia and Spain in World Cup qualifiers later this month, and they would require the services of their captain to achieve better results on the pitch.
After announcing Sweden’s squad that included Lindelof, the 59 years old manager has shared details of the injury with the reporters.
“I talked to Victor yesterday. He was not worried. It’s a minor injury. There we are, and then you never know. But he was not worried in that way, so that conversation felt good,”
Victor Lindelof represented his nation’s senior team 47 times. The Manchester United star is currently one of the most important players in his national team and the key to their defence. So naturally, the national team manager was concerned about the availability of the 27 years old defender.
After a conversation with the former Benfica player, the manager was able to get the complete picture of the incident and got to know about the severity of the injury.
