Manchester United continue to look at replacements for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he looks to avoid the sack
According to ESPN (h/t The Express), Manchester United have not dropped their search for a new manager amidst calls to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norwegian has suffered a tough time at Old Trafford over the last few weeks, but his team fought for him against Tottenham Hotspur as they banged in 3 goals without a response.
Solskjaer changed the formation and dropped several key players as he brought in the experienced lot to do the job for him. The encouraging display would have instilled some sort of confidence in the United board regarding the 48-year-old’s capabilities to manage the club.
However, while he remains in the hot seat, the Red Devils have not stopped assessing the potential options to replace him. The former Molde boss is still to play key games against Atalanta & Man City, and poor performances in those games could prove to be the end of the road for him.
Thus, alternatives need to be plotted in case disaster strikes. The Red Devils are thought to have dropped the idea of hiring Antonio Conte, especially since he looks set to join Spurs. Regardless, several other managers have been linked with the United job.
Mauricio Pochettino had been earmarked by Sir Alex Ferguson as the replacement to Jose Mourinho in 2018, but that move never panned out. The Argentinian is currently employed by Paris Saint-Germain, but the Red Devils could still try and lure him out of the French capital.

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane was also understood to be a viable option, but the Frenchman is apparently holding out for the national job. Brendan Rodgers is also admired by the United hierarchy, although taking him out of Leicester will be an expensive affair.
Thus, while the Old Trafford outfit are considering alternatives, it remains to be seen who assumes the throne in the red half of Manchester, should Solskjaer be sacked in the near future.
