Manchester United ace Donny van de Beek could seal January transfer move to rivals Arsenal through family connection
According to FourFourTwo (h/t ESPN), Donny van de Beek could exit Manchester United and secure a transfer to Arsenal in January due to a family connection.
The Dutch international arrived at Old Trafford for £35million last summer, but so far, the midfielder has not shown any returns on his investment, although he has not been given the opportunity to do so.
Van de Beek only managed four league starts over the course of last season despite faring well when he was put on the pitch. In fact, the midfielder also featured for the club during their pre-season and looked good to go.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opted against it and has preferred the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, and Fred in his midfield line. In fact, the 24-year-old was apparently trying to execute a move to Everton in the summer but that move failed to get over the line.
The former Ajax man hit a new low after the club’s game against Tottenham Hotspur as he was not brought off the bench for the sixth consecutive time this season. The midfielder has also changed agents recently to procure an exit from the theatre of dreams.
It now looks a rival is ready to put Van de Beek out of his misery, with Arsenal plotting a deal for him. It is thought that there is some sort of family connection that persists between the player, and someone related to the club, which could be key in sealing a move.

Moreover, with Thomas Partey departing for international duty in January during the African Cup for Nations, the Dutchman is seen as a ‘possible reinforcement’.
Regardless, the end decision might lie with the Old Trafford outfit, and Solskjaer would not be interested in letting go of one of the stars in his squad mid-season, especially if it strengthens a Top 4 rival.
