Barcelona to rival Manchester United for Jules Kounde if Xavi becomes manager
According to El Nacional (h/t The Hard Tackle), FC Barcelona could enter the race to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, a Manchester United transfer target is Xavi Hernandez takes over the reins at the Camp Nou.
The Sevilla defender who has proved to be one of the best defenders of La Liga this season helping his team keep five clean sheets in nine games. He also attracted the attention of Didier Deschamps who played him against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League.
He has been giving consistent performances for the last two years capturing Man United’s fancy in the first place. The Red Devils rearguard could do with some fresh life breathed into it.
Since Raphael Varane went out due to injury the English team is facing difficulties in the back. As a result, they conceded several easy goals. Their recent humiliating 5-0 defeat against bitter rival Liverpool was also a night to forget for the defensive unit.
FC Barcelona recently sacked Ronald Koeman due to the row of bad performances and defeats. Club legend Xavi Hernandez is the front runner to fill the manager post at the Catalan club.
The Spanish club received a list from Xavi that includes the names of transfer targets that he wants to sign after taking over the reins at the Nou Camp. It is believed that Jules Kounde’s name was suggested by Xavi as he is an admirer of the French defender.
