Manchester United senior players contact club chief Ed Woodward amidst uncertainty over future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
According to ESPN (h/t The Express), some senior players of Manchester United contacted club chief Ed Woodward to find out about the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the Liverpool defeat.
The Red Devils suffered one of their heaviest defeats in the last decade against Liverpool as the Reds mauled them at Old Trafford. This loss could have been the final nail in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s coffin, and the Norwegian was ‘expected’ to be given the sack after the game.
However, senior players of the squad sent messages of support to their manager and also contacted Ed Woodward for clarity over the future of the gaffer. There was a lot of uncertainty as to what decision the board will make, especially after the string of poor displays.
The players, on the other hand, are thought to have accepted that the disastrous results are down to their mellow performances and they are fully behind the manager.
Now that the 48-year-old has been handed a chance to turn things around and prove his quality, the same players will have to show up ahead of a crunch period.
Facing Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in the league with a crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Atalanta could be a horror show for the best of managers but given the strength in United’s squad, they should be able to pick up at least two victories.

Anything short of a victory against Spurs or the Italian outfit must not be taken lightly, and although a defeat to Man City could be understandable, the result cannot be similar to the Liverpool freakshow.
There is a lot of pressure on the players as well as Solskjaer and the tactics, selection, and subsequent performance must be spot on in the coming week if the squad do not wish to see a new face in the dug-out post the November international break.
