AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho is eager on a double January transfer move for Manchester United stars Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof
According to ll Romanista (h/t The Express), AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho is keen on securing transfers for Manchester United duo Victor Lindelof and Diogo Dalot in January.
The former United manager did not stay out of a job too long after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur as he joined Roma. Although he has done an encouraging job till now, his side’s 6-1 defeat to Bodo Glimt was an eye-opener for the Portuguese boss.
The 58-year-old made it clear that the current squad was not good enough, and it looks like he is already plotting plans for the winter transfer window. Mourinho is said to raid his former club and is eyeing deals for Lindelof and Dalot.
The latter was close to sealing a move to Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked it off. The full-back was identified as a decent deputy to Aaron wan-Bissaka after United failed to get a deal over the line for Atletico Madrid star Kieran Trippier.
However, the 22-year-old defender is now thought to be displeased with the game-time offered by Solskjaer and ‘wants out’, and a loan deal worth £2.5million could be on the cards. Lindelof, on the other hand, has been used as a second fiddle to either Harry Maguire or Raphael Varane this season.
The Swedish centre-back would be aware that his game-time could also dry up once Varane returns from injury. Ironically enough, both defenders were signed by Mourinho during his tenure at Old Trafford, and perhaps a January reunion might bode well for the player and AS Roma.

However, the Red Devils might not go through with either deal as they would not want to fall short of reinforcements mid-season. The current campaign has not been a fairytale story by any means, and taking some players out of the squad in January will only worsen the situation.
Regardless, the Manchester-based outfit will only have to make a decision if the Italian club convert their interest into a materialized offer in the coming transfer window.
