Donny van de Beek, Eric Bailly unhappy with the lack of game time at Manchester United
According to The Sun, Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly are fuming because of the lack of game time they are getting at Manchester United and are seeking assurances over their future at the club.
The former Ajax player and the centre back were unused substitutes for the Red Devils as they were hammered 5-0 by Liverpool.
Van de Beek has been frozen out by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he arrived in a £35million switch from Ajax in the summer of 2020.
On the other hand despite a horror show by Harry Maguire against Leicester City and Rafael Varane injury, Ole decided to keep Bailly on the bench during their pathetic display against Liverpool last weekend. Bailly has been on the bench making just one appearance in the League Cup defeat to West Ham.
According to the report, the defender was particularly angry not to start the away game at Leicester with Maguire rushed back from injury after just one training session.
Bailly signed a new contract last April keeping him at the club until 2024 but since then he has hardly been given any chances by the manager.
Van de Beek’s frustration was there to be seen when he was left on the bench during the last-minute win over Villarreal. The cameras caught him throwing a chewing gum down in the dug-out after Nemanja Matic and then Fred were favoured ahead of him as the Red Devils chased the winner.
Van de Beek has started just four times in the Premier League since his move from Ajax and he has been an unused substitute on 25 occasions. He hasn’t featured in any of United’s last six matches.
Manchester United face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday with Solskjaer under tremendous pressure. If results don’t pick over the next three games ahead of the international break that could well be the end of Solskjaer at the club.
