Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn't rule out more Manchester United signings.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could receive mega severance package from Manchester United if they sack him

According to SunSport, Manchester United would have to shell out a hefty severance package to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if they decide to sack him now.

The Old Trafford outfit have endured quite a rough patch in recent weeks, with their dreadful display against Liverpool the latest nail in Solskjaer’s coffin. There is a lot of uncertainty over his job and whether he is the right man to take the club ahead.

The poor results have so far led to the club being knocked out of the EFL Cup while their Premier League and Champions League hopes have also taken a hit. Things could get worse in the coming weeks as the Red Devils are set to face Tottenham Hotspur & Manchester City in the league before facing a daunting Champions League test against Atalanta in Italy.

Thus, the pressure is on, but if United do choose to sack their manager, it will not be a win-win situation as they would have to pay a huge severance package to the 48-year-old.

The Manchester-based club will have to pay a full year’s salary to the Norwegian, which currently stands at £7.5million. That makes the gaffer the fifth-highest paid manager in the league, behind Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Brendan Rodgers, and Marcelo Bielsa.

There is said to be a divide in the club hierarchy over making a decision to sack Solskjaer. However, a four-man shortlist is already thought to be in the making, including the likes of Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane, Rodgers, and Erik Ten Hag.

However, a concrete decision is yet to be made as Solskjaer & co prepare to take on Spurs on the weekend.
