Transfer News: Journalist Ekrem Konur claims Liverpool and Real Madrid are lining up a move for Manchester United star Paul Pogba
According to transfer news provided by journalist Ekrem Konur, Real Madrid and Liverpool are weighing up a deal for Manchester United ace Paul Pogba.
The former Juventus man has had a speculative future for over 18 months now and is yet to commit his future to United. However, with little over 6 months on his current contract, several clubs are lining up a transfer for the 28-year-old.
In fact, Real Madrid are already planning on discussing a potential move for the player in January to ensure that no other club can snap him up. However, this move will not affect the Red Devils as much as the audacious effort Liverpool are trying to pull off.
The Reds are considering bringing in the French international as a potential replacement to Thiago Alcantara or James Milner. While the former will turn 31 next year, Milner is set to get on the wrong side of 30. Thus, reinforcements may be due, but United will not appreciate this one bit.
The rivalry amongst the two clubs are as fierce as it gets, something that was clearly visible by the hostile atmosphere around Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after his side lost 5-0 at Old Trafford to their arch-rivals.
Moreover, it would be strengthening a direct title rival as Jurgen Klopp could create a juggernaut of a team with Pogba by his side. Thus, not only will United lose their star man, but he will join somebody who could influence their hopes for a major trophy directly.

To put things into perspective, the last time the two clubs conducted a direct transfer was in 1964 when Phil Chisnall left the Old Trafford outfit to join the Merseyside club. If the Frenchman does wish to preserve any sort of relationship with the United fans, it would be a wise decision to not move to Anfield.
Regardless, unless the Red Devils manage to tie down the player to a new deal by the end of this year, they will be able to do little to nothing about his future destination.
