Brendan Rodgers credits clinicalness for Manchester United win over Leicester City
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers feels Manchester United were more clinical in their 3-0 win over the Foxes at Old Trafford.
The King Power Stadium side took on us on (Sunday) 19 February in the Premier League. Marcus Rashford broke the deadlock for the Red Devils at the 25th-minute mark. The 25-year-old got in behind the opposition defence and brilliantly slotted the ball past Danny Ward.
United went into the break with a one-goal lead. However, for most of the first half, Leicester were the dominant side. They created a couple of decent chances, only for David de Gea to keep them out.

However, the Red Devils came out all guns blazing in the second half and were on top of the proceedings. Rashford found the back of the net once again in the 56th minute.
The England international once again got in behind and was one-on-one with the keeper and showed that he could do no wrong when presented with chances. Then, Jadon Sancho got the Old Trafford side’s third at around the hour mark after some brilliant build-up play.
Speaking after the match to Match of the Day (h/t Manchester Evening News), Rodgers lamented his side’s missed opportunities. The former Liverpool head coach compared it with the Manchester-based club’s clinicalness.
“We started the game really well, looked a real threat in the game, progressed the ball through well into the final third, we had chances, we didn’t take them.
“They had one chance and scored and that’s just the difference – in being clinical. We had enough in the first half, disappointed in the goal we conceded, Marcus Rashford.”
Rashford has now taken his tally for the season to 24 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions. The forward has now scored in the last seven consecutive home games.
The England international has shouldered the burden of United’s attack in the current campaign. With the untimely departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and the injury issues of Anthony Martial, the 25-year-old’s resurgence has been pivotal for us.

While we did not have the best of times in the first half, the top sides manage to get something. That is exactly what the Red Devils did. It goes to show the work Erik ten Hag has done with the Old Trafford side in the last few months.
