Zinedine Zidane not keen to become new manager of Manchester United amidst calls to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
According to the sources of ESPN, Zinedine Zidane is not keen on becoming the new manager of Manchester United if they choose to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Frenchman broke had a successful playing career at the most illustrious European clubs but hung his boots in 2006 before returning to management in 2015. The 49-year-old was an understudy to Carlo Ancelotti during the Italian’s first tenure at the club.
However, Zidane took over the Spanish giants after Rafael Benitez was sacked by Florentino Perez. The former Real Madrid midfielder’s talent in the dug-out became clear after he delivered three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles.
Although he departed in 2018, he returned a year later and helped the club win La Liga before leaving them again at the end of last season. Thus, he is currently out of work, and United have shortlisted him as one of the candidates on their list of potential managers.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford is highly uncertain, and another poor result could spell doomsday for the Norwegian tactician. However, while United may be able to sack the 48-year-old, they might not be able to appoint Zidane.
The former Real Madrid manager is not interested in taking over the managerial hot-seat in Manchester as he is no hurry to get back to work.
