Manchester United told PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino ‘unavailable’ amidst links
According to ESPN (h/t The Express), Manchester United have been told that PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hard to appoint and is not ‘expected’ to be available any time soon.
The Red Devils are thought to be on the lookout for new managers, and several have caught the eye so far. Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte seem to be the early favourites for the managerial hot-seat at Old Trafford.
However, one more name that United have a long-standing interest in is Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinian turned out to be a revelation in the Premier League during his time with Tottenham Hotspur.
The 49-year-old revitalized the club and led them to several Top 4 finishes and a couple of Cup finals, including the Champions League final in 2019. While he was sacked in November 2019, he was appointed as the head coach of PSG at the start of this year.
The Manchester-based club have now been told that a move for the former Spurs will not be possible as he is not expected to become ‘available’ soon, according to ESPN (h/t The Express).
It is also said that while Conte is one of the names on United’s shortlist, they are ‘reluctant’ to appoint him amidst fears that he might not be the right fit for the club. Thus, the search must go on as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to work on thin ice at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian has endured a month-long spell of poor performances and bad results that have put the club out of the EFL Cup and the Top 6 of the Premier League while their Champions League knockout stage aspirations remain dicey despite a heroic come-back against Atalanta last week.
Thus, only time will tell who takes over the helm at United should they decide to sack Solskjaer.
