Ricardo Pepi has been on the radar of Manchester United for a while now.

Manchester United look to secure January transfer for FC Dallas ace Ricardo Pepi

According to The Mirror, Manchester United are looking to get a transfer over the line for FC Dallas star Ricardo Pepi in January.

The 18-year-old has turned heads in the MLS with his scintillating performances this season. The USMNT international has bagged 13 goals in 27 appearances for Dallas this term, and his displays also earned him a national call-up.

The centre-forward has not taken a lot of time to adjust to international football as he has scored three goals in four caps for America. If he does keep up the good form, there is every chance that he will make it on the flight to Qatar for the World Cup in 2022.

While he could be on course to achieve international glory, domestic clubs are also lining up to secure his signature, with Manchester United one of the clubs keeping the player on their radar.

Man United to swoop for Pepi in January?

FC Dallas have few hopes of making it to the playoffs this year, and thus, a move for Pepi could be negotiated in the winter transfer window itself. The Red Devils are spoilt for choices in their attacking line but could have some departures soon.

Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are in the final year of their respective contracts and could leave as free agents next summer. Cristiano Ronaldo will also turn 37 next year, while there is no certainty that the Manchester-based outfit will land Erling Haaland despite their continuous interest.

Thus, alternatives may be due, and given that the American club are only holding out for £10million for their prized asset, a deal could be done on the cheap for the youngster, who is thought to be willing to complete a move away from Dallas.

However, given that Brentford, Brighton, Liverpool, Man City, and several other Serie A & Bundesliga clubs are also eyeing a transfer, it will take a lot of effort for United to lure the striker to Old Trafford in January.
