Injury Update: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refuses to put a time frame on Raphael Varane return
According to The Mirror, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to give away much regarding the return of injured superstar Raphael Varane.
The 28-year-old injured himself while on international duty and has not been featured for the club since. He will miss the titanic clash against Liverpool later tonight.
Speaking in his pre-match presser, Solskajer revealed that Varane is working hard. However, he has refused to put a time frame on his return.
“It’s hard to put a time limit on players that you don’t really know, but he’s been on the grass and who knows?|
With a tough set of fixtures to come, Solskjaer will be keen for Varane to return to full fitness soon. The Frenchman is among the best defenders in the world and his availability will boost the United rearguard.
Marcus Rashford (dead leg), Fred (hamstring), and Bruno Fernandes (knock) are also a doubt for the game against Jurgen Klopp’s side. Not having some of our best players is a major handicap against Liverpool, who are unbeaten this season.
The United defence has been leaky this season, shipping in a number of goals. While the attack has bailed them out often, it cannot continue to be the norm.
With Varane out, the onus will be on Victor Lindelof to partner Harry Maguire at the back. The duo has played together a number of times and will hope that their familiarity will bear fruit.
