Transfer News: Manchester United to battle Liverpool for Mino Raiola client Ryan Gravenberch
According to De Telegraaf (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United are set to battle not just Liverpool but also super-agent Mino Raiola for his client Ryan Gravenberch.
The Ajax Amsterdam starlet is amongst the best young talents of his generation. Despite being just 19, he has already established himself in the Ajax first team and has made 74 appearances for them, scoring 10 goals and assisting eight.
He has also made 13 appearances for Ajax this season, playing in every one of their games so far. It is fair to say that a big future beckons the Oranje international midfielder.
the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic are all industrious players but lack dynamism in the middle of the park. Gravenberch can help bridge that gap and emerge as a long term solution to the club’s woes.
United will however have to negotiate a potential banana skin in Raiola. The superagent had his run-ins with United in the past, most recently regarding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s handling of Paul Pogba.
He appears invested in getting the best deals for his clients and Gravenberch is no exception. How our dealings with Raiola in the past could affect our chances for landing the 19-year-old in the future remains to be seen.
Securing Gravenberch could prove all the more pivotal should Pogba decide to leave on a free next summer. The Frenchman is currently in the final year of his deal at United. Having to deal with Raiola after potentially losing one of his other players could prove counterproductive.

Gravenberch has every chance of staying put at Ajax to further his game. The player’s father has also alluded to it in the past. Given that he is just 19, it will not come as a surprise if he pens an extension to stay put in the Eredivisie.
