Manchester United chiefs call for bold changes from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer against Atalanta with Bruno Fernandes to be ‘unlikely casualty’
According to The Independent (h/t The Express), Manchester United chiefs are expecting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shall make some big changes against Atalanta with Bruno Fernandes facing the possibility of being dropped.
The Old Trafford outfit have suffered a tumultuous period in the last four weeks as they have been eliminated from the EFL Cup and have also not won a game in the Premier League since snatching a last-minute victory against West Ham United in mid-September.
Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have created a problem regarding the balance in the team while Jadon Sancho is yet to contribute to a single goal after his £73million arrival at the Manchester-based outfit.
Raphael Varane has not enabled defensive cohesion as the club have only kept a single clean sheet this season, while the Frenchman is also out for a ‘few weeks’ now with injury.
The Red Devils recently also produced a lacklustre performance against Leicester City which led them out of the Top 4. United chiefs are now expecting the Norwegian boss to make some bold changes in the UCL clash against Atalanta.
It is thought that Bruno Fernandes could be dropped for the game on Wednesday with his Portuguese compatriot, Ronaldo, also running a possibility to be placed on the bench.

The 36-year-old has already warmed the bench once this season and has since ‘reiterated’ to his manager that he is fit to play every game. Fernandes, on the other hand, has been pivotal to everything good that has happened to the club since the start of the season.
A potent chance creator and goal-threat, it would be a huge decision to drop the 27-year-old for the important UCL tie. However, with fringe stars like Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard knocking on the door for more game-time, Solskjaer will have to make some tough decisions ahead of the mid-week fixture.
