Paul Ince has slammed Manchester United for offering a mega-contract to Paul Pogba
Speaking to the United Stand (h/t Manchester Evening News), Paul Ince has slammed Manchester United for reeking of desperation by offering a massive contract to Paul Pogba.
The 28-year-old signed for the Red Devils in 2016 for a club-record fee of £89million. However, the player could now leave on a free transfer at the end of this season.
The Frenchman has been a pivotal part of the club’s good form this season and is also a crucial reason why they are sitting only two points off the top of the league table. Thus, United are keen on keeping him and are said to have offered him a deal worth £400,000-per-week, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required).
Former Manchester United ace Paul Ince has now slammed the club for the ‘baffling’ decision. Ince told the United Stand (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“First and foremost, I think there is a sign of desperation from Manchester United in offering him (Pogba) this contract. Obviously, they are trying to persuade him to sign this deal. They are desperate for him to sign this deal.
“It is a lot of money for somebody who has been in and out of the side. He was on the bench two weeks ago against Everton, and then, all of a sudden, they are saying ‘look, here you go, here is £400,000-a-week.”

For all his silky play, Pogba is yet to win a major trophy with the club, although he did lift the UEFA Europa League in 2017 under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho. However, the French international has not guided his club to a Premier League or Champions League title yet.
In the same period, he has won the World Cup and the UEFA Nations League with France. Thus, it remains to be seen whether the 28-year-old can produce the same performances and deliver the same success under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
