Transfer News: Manchester United remain interested in a move for Sevilla star Jules Kounde

According to the latest transfer news on Fichajes (h/t Sports Mole), Manchester United are still keen on a deal for Sevilla ace Jules Kounde.

The 22-year-old has been at the epicenter of Sevilla’s defence since he joined the club in the summer of 2019. Since making the move, he has gone on to win the Europa League with the Spanish outfit and has made 97 appearances, and is very likely to touch the 100-mark soon.

However, he might not have done so as Chelsea were heavily interested in getting the player to Stamford Bridge. Personal terms were said to be agreed between the centre-back and the London club, but a deal never took off as the Blues did not make any defensive additions.

Manchester United to make a move Kounde?

Chelsea’s bad luck could be good news for Manchester United as the Red Devils are still keen on a deal for Kounde. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already possesses the likes of Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, and Eric Bailly, they could always use some extra quality in their ranks.

Moreover, only Varane and Maguire are apparently considered to be the long-term options at Old Trafford. However, both centre-backs will turn 29 next year, and Kounde could add a youthful approach given his age and talent.

The defender is also a French international and featured alongside Varane in France’s recent UEFA Nations League triumph.

While the likes of Axel Tuanzebe and Teden Mengi do exist in United’s squad as future centre-back options, there is no guarantee they will excel in those roles.

However, with the La Liga outfit likely to remain stern on their £68million asking price of the Frenchman, only time will tell whether the Old Trafford outfit shell out the big bucks for the Sevilla’s marquee superstar.
