Transfer News: Barcelona Ansu Fati is willing to sign a new contract amidst Manchester United links
According to the latest transfer news on Spanish publication Marca (h/t Sports Mole), Ansu Fati is ready to sign a new Barcelona contract despite links to Manchester United.
The 18-year-old has produced eye-catching performances since a young age and has made 46 appearances for the senior team since making his debut in the 2019/20 season. In the same period, he has contributed to 19 goals – a promising return for any youngster.
However, the winger could not feature as much as he would have liked to last season after enduring a knee injury. He has now made a return and looks raring to go, but his future is up in the air.
Could Manchester United make a move for Ansu Fati?
The Spaniard will be a free agent next summer if he fails to put pen to paper on a new deal. That is not an issue, however, as he is willing to commit to a new five-year contract.
The winger’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is in Barcelona to negotiate a new deal as the Nou Camp outfit are in the process of handing new deals to the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Ronald Araujo, Pedri, and Gavi.
Fati’s decision is a blow for Manchester United, who were said to be keen on adding him to their ranks. Jesse Lingard might not stay at the club beyond this season, while Edinson Cavani also has a similar situation as his contract expires next summer.

Thus, a new attacker might be due, and at 18, Fati could become a potential star at Old Trafford. Solskjaer would like a squad that could compete in all four competitions year-after-year and quality talent like the Spaniard is a necessity in doing so.
Regardless, United will have to focus their attention elsewhere as it does not like they can land the Barcelona starlet any time soon.
