Transfer News: Barcelona reignite their interest in Manchester United star Paul Pogba
According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Express), La Liga giants Barcelona have reignited their interest in Manchester United and France superstar Paul Pogba.
The Red Devils ace is on his day one of the best midfielders in world football. While his importance to United is clear, the inability to reach an agreement regarding his future continues to create doubt.
Pogba’s contract at Old Trafford will expire next summer. There has been little to suggest that he is ready to pen fresh terms. Barcelona have now made themselves available should Pogba seek to move elsewhere at the end of this season.
The Catalans are currently a club in crisis on and off the pitch. The loss of Lionel Messi has taken away a major chunk of their identity. If that was not enough, colossal mismanagement off the field has pushed the organization to the brink.
Bringing in a player such as Pogba to build the team around makes a lot of sense. More so given that he could potentially be available for free.
However, with the likes of Mino Raiola pulling the strings, it remains to be seen if Barcelona can cough up the money to attract the French ace. They clearly lack the footballing project, to begin with.
This is not the first time that the Balgruana have been linked with Pogba. The Catalans made an offer of £45million plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes for the United star in 2017. The offer was promptly rejected.

While Barcelona might or might not make a move for Pogba, United clearly have a lot to think about. Losing the club’s record signing for free is nothing short of a disaster and will leave us one world-class player short.
Add to it Cristiano Ronaldo’s age and the squad’s strengths start to look like a pack of cards. Just how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co go about handling it remains to be seen.
