Manchester United ready to pursue move for Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland over Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane
According to the Manchester Evening News (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United will prefer a move for Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland over Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane.
The Red Devils added to their frontline handsomely this summer by bringing in both Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, before signing the former Juventus man, they had other targets in mind, and two players specifically were linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Erling Haaland, who has been in sensational form for the last year and a half in the Bundesliga, was linked with a move to United, but his £150million was enough to ward off most suitors.
Tottenham’s prized asset in Harry Kane also had a similar price tag nailed on him by Daniel Levy, and neither Manchester club could lure the player out of North London. While moves for them were not possible this summer, a similar situation could be on hand next summer.
The Norwegian is said to become available for a fee in the region of £68million at the end of the current season a move could be orchestrated for him. Similarly, if Spurs’ woes continue, their star English centre-forward could try to jump ship again.
However, United have their priorities clear. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. will target a move for Haaland instead of Kane due to a mutual agreement between the Norwegian boss and football director John Murtough, according to Manchester Evening News (h/t Daily Star).

A whole seven years younger than the England captain, the Dortmund striker could become a mainstay at Old Trafford for years to come and might be the more sensible move financially as well.
Thus, in a move that would please most fans, Solskjaer and co. will try to convince Haaland to join the Red Devils next summer despite the potential availability of a proven Premier League striker like Kane.
