Raphael Varane admits “everything is possible” in Premier League title race for Manchester United
Manchester United star Raphael Varane has admitted that “everything is possible” in the Premier League title race after the Red Devils’ win over Manchester City.
The Old Trafford side beat the Sky Blues on 14 January at home in the English top flight. Late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford saw us seal a comeback win over Pep Guardiola’s team.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Varane expressed optimism at United’s chances at lifting the league title. However, the France international is also cautious about taking things one game at a time.
“Everything is possible. We’ll just take it game by game. It’s a long way to go and it’s very difficult. The intensity of every game is incredible, the physical effort. It’s like the same intensity of a big Champions (League) game every game.”
The Red Devils have established their place in the top four after the victory over City. We are currently in fourth place, level on points with Newcastle United and a point behind the Sky Blues.
At the start of the campaign, getting into the top four seemed like a tough task after our back-to-back losses against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. However, since then, Erik ten Hag has admirably managed to get us on track.
The Old Trafford side have had a few stumbles along the way, like the 6-3 loss to the Cityzens. But overall, the Dutch manager is doing a great job in the dugout.
United are currently on a nine-game winning run in all competitions. Ever since the restart after the 2022 World Cup, the team have been sound both defensively and in the attack.
Arsenal are top of the table in the PL for now. They have an eight-point lead at the top. However, it is not unthinkable to think that we could catch them.
