Manchester United suffer huge blow as Raphael Varane faces injury trouble
According to The Sun, Manchester United ace Raphael Varane has suffered an injury during international duty with France.
The 28-year-old made the move to Manchester earlier this summer in a £40million deal from Real Madrid. A serial winner and incredible defender, the Frenchman has been a part of the first team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since featuring against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of August.
Since then, he has formed an incredible partnership alongside club captain Harry Maguire and has been a rock at the back. However, the Red Devils have now suffered a blow as the centre-back limped off injured during the UEFA Nations League final against Spain.
Varane was a crucial factor in Les Bleus’ comeback against Belgium in the semi-final of the competition and was also looking confident for the first half an hour in the final. However, in a bizarre incident, the 28-year-old just sat down and called for the medics.
It was later suggested through replays that perhaps the French international stretched his leg too much for a ball. While the extent of the injury is unknown yet, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be praying and hoping it is not a serious problem.
Maguire already suffered an injury before the international break, and there is no update on when the club can expect him back. Thus, Victor Lindelof has already partnered Varane a couple of times in the United defence.

However, if the 28-year-old is also ruled out for a substantial period, one of Eric Bailly or Phil Jones will be needed to deputize for the Frenchman.
With Leicester City set to host the Red Devils on the weekend, it is panic stations at Old Trafford as they look to have at least one of their star centre-backs ready and fit for the heavy fixture schedule.
