Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes remains in contact with Leeds United star Raphinha as January transfer plot emerges
Speaking in an interview (h/t The Express), Leeds United star Raphinha has revealed that he is still in contact with Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes amidst a potential January move for the winger.
The 24-year-old Leeds United winger has gone from strength to strength since leaving Sporting CP in 2019. That is, however, where both Fernandes and Raphinha plied their trade together for one season before the Brazilian packed his bags to France and joined Stade Rennais.
Fernandes left in the following winter window and joined the Old Trafford outfit. However, that might not have been the end of their companionship. Leeds United snapped up the winger last summer, and he has since been sensational under Bielsa.
United were linked with the player this year, and Fernandes might have reunited with his former Sporting CP team-mate had the Red Devils not prioritized other targets.
Despite not signing him, the two players remain in contact, and it is ‘possible’ that United renew their interest in the Brazilian in January where the 27-year-old midfielder could play the role of an ‘agent’. Raphinha told reporters in an interview about their friendship, stating (h/t The Express):
“Bruno congratulated me a lot [after being called up by Brazil]. He told me that I deserved it so much that I had been deserving it for a while. This happens with friends who talk a lot, more intimacy like that, more jokes. But he praised me a lot, congratulated me.
“He said he wasn’t surprised at all by what was happening and what would happen. “And for me, receiving compliments like that from people I admire, not only professionally but personally, is also very rewarding.”

Although the Old Trafford outfit are stacked for options in the winger roles, another player will only increase the quality in the ranks and boost the competition in the squad.
Regardless, it remains to be seen if a deal does actually pan out for the Brazilian as his Portuguese compatriot looks to play the role of an ‘agent’ in a potential move.
